Dmitry Medvedev To Launch Public Television In #Russia

President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has announced his intention to launch a public television in Russia in the nearest future. This announcement was made by Medvedev during his speech in the Council of Federation on 22 December 2011. According to Dmitry Medvedev, the Russia's public television will be launch on a platform of one of the existing federal broadcasting channels.

In July 2011, Dmitry Medvedev has already expressed his thoughts regarding the possibility of a public television in Russia. Back then Medvedev raised the questions about the source of the financial support for such broadcaster. Speaking at the "Petersburg Forum" in July, Russia's President noted that "the public television is a good thing" but it might cause certain problems if it's created and operated on money from Russia's tax payers.

In particular, Dmitry Medvedev was saying:

"The public television is a good thing. Although we have to understand what should be the principles for its operations in our country [Russia]. If it's a principle of tax collecting paid by practically any citizen then this might cause certain problems. In contrast, we have to look for other sources for financing."

A logical assumption would be that Dmitry Medvedev has it all figured out and hound models and technologies to finance a public television in Russia.

The question which is being raised by experts is what are these sources of that independant financial support and which federal broadcaster will receive that extra money to launch Medvedev's public TV.
