Microsoft's Startup Business Group develops and launches new products with a focus on consumers and collaborates closely with the Business Groups and Microsoft Research. SBG is looking for a Social Media Specialist. This person should be always refining social media strategies, engaging in proactive link building, developing relationships, tracking the effectiveness of campaigns, and maintaining day-to-day social media conversations. The ideal person is passionate about "word of mouth" marketing, is an active participant on their own, and has worked with/for major brands.
Candidates must have a foundation in web functionality and leveraging analytics to optimize web performance is required.
Daily Functions:
• Work hand to hand with our PR team to amplify Social Media Activities.
• Identify, incentivize, and pitch influencers in various digital outlets. This includes external outreach and link building.
• Actively participate in social media conversations as the eyes, ears, and voice of our brand. Understands real time marketing efforts.
• Recommend social media marketing and link building campaigns, including requirements definition, scope, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
• Aid in refinement of social media strategies for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, blogs, forums, and more.
• Facilitates integration of social media efforts with key internal (SEO, Content) and external stakeholders.
• Establish KPIs for social media.
• Analyze, review, and report on campaign effectiveness in an effort to maximize results.
• Monitor social media emerging trends/best practices and provide proactive recommendations
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
• Actively participates in Social Media management (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and has strong understanding of current and emerging social media channels.
• In depth knowledge of Social Media tools and techniques.
• Experience pitching bloggers and able to drive qualified traffic to via organic (non-paid) means.
• Organized, detail oriented and focused on execution.
• Solutions oriented/problem solver. Ability to drive initiatives in uncharted waters.
• Active listening skills with a strong sense of customer service.
• A love of both creativity and data.
• Working knowledge of Search Engine Optimization
Preferred:
• 3-5 years in public relations/communications preferred.
• Strong editorial background preferred with outstanding writing/journalistic skills.
